Clausen Memorial Museum
FY 2005/06 Annual Report to the Community
Clausen Museum is dedicated to preserving the history & telling the story of those who have lived and worked in Petersburg and the surrounding area.

Petersburg Library & Museum
The Petersburg Library & Museum will include a museum, library, a small multi-use theater and meeting spaces. After three years of careful planning, the Petersburg Library & Museum Steering committee has a viable solution to the Museum’s and the Library’s facility problems. You can see schematic drawings of the planned facility at the City Council Chambers, the library and the museum.

The museum will have a permanent gallery, temporary gallery, a child discovery room and plenty of collection storage for the museums collections. We will share spaces with the library such as archival storage, multi purpose rooms and bathrooms. This will be a big cost saving solution to both the museum and library.

Visitor Feedback: What they are saying about us!
“We got to Petersburg, a small and un-touristy town, shortly after breakfast. The day was incredibly clear and about 65 degrees. Lovely! Pam and Mary were going to be taking floatplane rides so I had most of the day to myself. I found a small museum (Clausen Memorial Museum) in town that had some Norwegian items and several Tlinget items. The Tlinget stuff the museum found itself in and around Petersburg. I thought that was cool. Several local artists also contributed to the museum. Their gift shop was the BEST I've been to! Everything in there was from local artists and very reasonably priced. I bought more there than in any other place on the whole trip. Then I hooked up with Mary and we shopped a little. I found a pair of shoes I've been wanting but didn't want to pay the price for in Atlanta and they were ON SALE! I took a lot of pictures around town because it was such a beautiful day. Enjoy! “

Museum Shop
Check us out for local and regional artists work. Museum products include Cats Meow Buildings, magnets, postcards, historical publications, Petersburg DVD, salmon label candy bar and pins. Proceeds from this shop make it possible for the museum to keep its doors open, provide museum school programs, public programs and special exhibits for our community and guests. Our goal is to expand the educational experience of the museum visitor by selling items that enhance the museum collection and programs.

Thank you for your support!
